Affiliate Faculty Process & Request

 

What is an Affiliate Faculty member?

An Affiliate Faculty Member is someone who makes a significant contribution to the educational or research effort of I.S.U. without expectation of remuneration. Selection is based on a careful review of credentials and experience. Appointment to the Affiliate Faculty is made for up to three academic years upon the recommendation of the Department Chair with approval from the College Dean and Academic Vice President for Academic Affairs or Vice President for Health Sciences.

What privileges does Affiliate Faculty of ISU enjoy?

  • Library circulation privileges equivalent to those received by other university faculty
  • A general parking permit for use by the affiliate faculty member (fees apply)
  • Use of the ISU Computer Center and microcomputer laboratories for University business at no charge
  • Access to Reed Gymnasium and associated recreational facilities (I.D. card required, fees apply)
  • Access to most physical education activity classes at normal faculty fee rate
  • Listing in appropriate publications of the University
  • Receipt of a certificate of acknowledgment

Process for Requesting Affiliate Faculty Status

  1. Complete this PowerForm to request Affiliate Faculty status (form can be initiated by Department Chair, Department Admin, member requesting affiliate status, etc.)
    1. CV will be required to add as an attachment when the form is initiated
    2. Here are instructions for the form: Affiliate Faculty Instructions and Workflow 
    3. Here is a Sample Affiliate Faculty Form
  2. Once filled out, the form will route for signatures as follows:
    1. Department Chair
    2. Dean
    3. Affiliate Faculty Nominee
  3. Once signed, Academic Affairs will process the faculty member in Banner
  4. The Provost will sign the form
    1. Copies of approved form will be sent to: 
      1. Department Chair
      2. College Dean and Management Assistant
      3. Affiliate Faculty member
      4. Provost and Executive Assistant
      5. Academic Affairs Project Coordinator
  5. The new Affiliate Faculty will receive a letter and certificate from the Provost as attachments in the completed DocuSign
