Standards of Length

Overview:

Show students the devices we use to measure distances.

Materials:

Ruler, meter stick, tape measure.

Setup Instructions:

Put the materials on a table so that students can see and the professor has access to them.

How to:

Show the students what the measuring equipment feel and look like. Fun fact: the US is one of three countries left using the standard system, the other two being Liberia and Burma.

Safety:

Do not use rulers and meter sticks as swords.
