Orders of Magnitude

Overview:

We show the students different order of magnitudes by comparing balls that are 10x larger/smaller than each other

Materials:

Giant beach ball, foam balls

Setup Instructions:

Inflate the giant beach ball and put it on a table for display, then put the two foam balls next to it.

How to:

Allow the students to see the balls and explain that each is one order of magnitude smaller/larger than the medium foam ball.

Safety:

Do not put foam balls in mouth.
