Graduate Students
You are a graduate student if you have previously completed a bachelor’s degree and intend to pursue a graduate degree, such as a master’s or doctoral degree.
Graduate Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission to ISU as a graduate student, please visit the Graduate School's Future Student Resources page. Each academic department has their own admission requirements, but the process begins with the Graduate School.
After you are officially accepted by the Graduate School, then the International Programs Office will work on issuing the I-20 needed for your visa appointment.
Application Process
1) Apply for Graduate Admission
All prospective students must complete and submit the graduate online application.
2) Submit Documentation to Graduate School
Complete details on the admission process for graduate level admission is found on the Graduate School's Future Student Resources page. The entire admission process is handled by the Graduate School. All admission questions should be directed to the Graduate School at 208-282-2150 or by email at gradschool@isu.edu.
3) Next Steps for I-20
Once you are admitted to the university, the I-20 needed for your F-1 visa will be issued to you. However, you do not have to wait for the admission decision to take these next steps in preparation.
- Review the estimated costs for international undergraduate students.
- Submit documents required for your I-20.
- Students currently on an I-20 from another U.S. school will need to apply for a SEVIS Transfer.
