Job Summary:

The Classroom Note-Taker provides accurate, comprehensive, and timely notes from lectures and classroom activities to support students with disabilities. This role is critical in ensuring equal access to academic content and helping students engage fully with course materials.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend all scheduled class sessions, arriving on time and prepared.

  • Take clear, accurate, and well-organized notes during lectures, discussions, and presentations.

  • Ensure notes are free of personal opinions and maintain academic objectivity.

  • Type or digitize handwritten notes and submit them within the required timeframe (typically within 24–48 hours).

  • Collaborate with the Disability Services Office to ensure notes meet accessibility and quality standards.

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding the identity of the student(s) receiving notes and any sensitive course content.

  • Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding absences, schedule changes, or any issues impacting performance.


Qualifications:

  • Enrolled student in good academic standing, or equivalent qualification.

  • Strong listening, typing, and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and academic writing conventions.

  • Ability to capture essential lecture content accurately and concisely.

  • Dependable, punctual, and responsible.

  • Familiarity with accessibility and disability support is a plus.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with note-taking apps (e.g., Evernote, Notability) or transcription software.

  • Comfort with diverse subject matter (e.g., STEM, humanities, social sciences).

  • Basic understanding of FERPA and confidentiality in educational settings.
