High School Students Participate in Reality Town, Sponsored by Idaho Vocational Rehabilitation
High school students recently participated in Reality Town, a hands-on financial literacy simulation sponsored by Idaho Vocational Rehabilitation. This immersive event provided students with an opportunity to experience adult life responsibilities by assigning them a career, annual salary, family, and various life circumstances.
Throughout the simulation, students were tasked with budgeting their monthly income while managing essential expenses such as childcare, housing, transportation, utilities, and groceries. Additionally, they encountered a “Just My Luck” station, where they drew cards that could introduce unexpected financial challenges, such as a broken water heater or a cracked windshield.
The event took place on the campus of Idaho State University, where students from Pocatello High School engaged in a real-world exercise in financial planning and decision-making.
