Dr. Wakjira is an Assistant Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Kennesaw State University and the founding director of the AI4RISE (AI for Resilient Infrastructure & System Engineering) Lab, which is dedicated to advancing intelligent, resilient, and environmentally efficient infrastructure through the integration of artificial intelligence, advanced materials, and systems engineering principles. His research focuses on developing high-impact, intelligent solutions that enhance structural performance, improve resilience to multi-hazard events, optimize lifecycle management, and reduce the environmental footprint of critical infrastructure systems. His work has been published in top-tier journals and is frequently recognized as highly cited, widely downloaded, and among the most popular articles. Dr. Wakjira has been recognized among the top 2% of scientists worldwide. He is an active member of professional associations such as ASCE and ACI, and serves on national standards and guidelines committees. He also serves as an editor for different Springer and Frontier journals.
