The Finance Committee is composed of the Director of Finance, Senators, the ASISU President, the Vice President, and all Outreach Campus Vice Presidents.
The Finance Committee reviews funding requests and votes the week after they're introduced. If approved, the request goes to the Senate for a final vote under Old Business and requires a supermajority to pass. Officials connected to a requesting group must abstain from discussion and voting. Requests must be submitted to the ASISU Secretary by 12 p.m. the Friday before the Senate meeting and include a description, itemized costs, funding source, and number of people impacted. Approved funds must be used within the same academic year and may be revoked if misused.
Caucus
The Senate holds caucus meetings each week on the same night as regular Senate meetings. The Senate Pro Tempore leads the caucus. These meetings are informal and do not follow Robert’s Rules. All students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend. Caucus is a time to talk about topics that may need the Senate’s attention. No official decisions or votes happen during caucus, and no minutes are taken.

The Vice President is in charge of keeping order during Senate meetings. Each speaker has up to five minutes to talk, and each agenda item has a maximum of 15 minutes for discussion unless more time is approved by a motion.

The Rules and Appointments Committee makes sure that Senate proposals, actions, and Presidential appointments follow the ASISU Constitution, Bylaws, Election Code, and rulebooks. The committee reviews all bills and resolutions to ensure they meet guidelines, looks into Presidential nominations, and gives the Senate a recommendation along with the voting results. During the fall Legislative Convention, the committee updates and enforces all governing documents. Members also help make sure the Senate follows these rules. If something goes against the Constitution or Bylaws, the committee will bring it to the Senate so it can be fixed.
